He pumps vigorously for a couple of minutes and the mound soon starts taking shape.
Minutes later, the 30-year-old Italian launches his orange inflatable kayak into the sea, hops off the Senglea waterfront and begins to row to work in Valletta.
Mr Scorcia kayaks it to and from work every day, avoiding the gridlock which drives so many commuters up the wall.
The entire trip, from inflating the kayak in Senglea to deflating it and packing everything up along Ta’ Liese in Valletta, takes him approximately 20 minutes.

West Marine unveils renovations

LEAGUE CITY — When West Marine officially unveiled its newly renovated store last week, the grand-opening celebration said as much about the righting of a listing economy as it did the retailer’s own success.

Search on for 'a real good bugger' after fishing boat sinks

Three helicopters and six local vessels are to join the search for the missing men this morning, while a fixed-wing Cessna is on standby.
Mr Todd said weather conditions are good in the area, and a full day of searching is expected.
He said debris from the vessel was drifting away from the shore, with the hull of the vessel found 4km from shore.
"We are hopeful that the two men did get out into an inflatable dinghy - there is also the suggestion there was an aluminium dinghy on board, so we are hopeful they got onto one of those," Mr Todd told Radio New Zealand.
He said the pair are understood to be experienced fishermen who knew the area well.
Mr Todd said given the damage sustained on the bow it appeared there had been a "major impact".
