What do you know about outboard jet kits?
Aug 04, 2007 by monster | Posted in Boats & Boating
I have a 72 evinrude 10 hp outboard....Do you know if a jet conversion is availble?...I plan on running on rivers....would a prop gaurd be better,to keep more power?
I wouildn't sink money into something that old. Just be careful and watch what you are doing. A jet isn't always the answer for rivers, anyway. They can suck up gravel and that gets real expensive-a lot more than a dinged prop.

Our View: Lake Zumbro is a regional asset that needs help
31.12.69
It's a tale of two lakes.Long before a flood ripped through the Zumbro River dam in Oronoco, we believed it was time to pull the plug on Lake Shady. The lake had silted in to the point that it served little recreational purpose, and in times of low water it became muddy, smelly eyesore. Dredging the lake, at an estimated cost of $10 million, would have made little sense. Too few people lived on the lake to cover a local share of the cost, and it wasn't — nor was it likely to become — a major destination for the boating community.
Ultimately, nature made the final ruling, and we look forward to seeing new recreational options develop in the former lakebed.
