in science we have to make a raft of aluminum foil and straws that will hold the most weight. the only materials we can use are a 30 cm x 30 cm piece of aluminum foil, 4 plastic straws, and scissors. how can i make my raft so it will hold the most weight?
Make a big ring with the straw, the more surface space you cover the better. Cover one side with the aluminum foil and wrap around the straws to hold in place. Place in water and start adding your pennies.

SEVERAL finals were played last week to finish off the season in the Ballymena and District Snooker league (sponsored by Arkmedia).
The final of the Non handicap Individual competition was between Minnesota’s Rodney McFall and Triangle Aces player Willie Boreland.
The tone for the final was set early in frame one with Willie opening up with a 30 break before missing a difficult cut on a red. Rodney replied almost immediately with a 27 bringing him to within half a dozen points of his opponent.
At the colours Rodney had nudged into a three point lead and looked favourite for the frame after potting yellow and green and then forcing a foul on the brown from Willie.

Nicolas Sarkozy could face questioning in a raft of party financing and corruption cases when he leaves the Elysee and loses his presidential immunity.
The Right-winger, who lost his re-election bid to the Socialist Francois Hollande on Sunday, held his last cabinet meeting yesterday (Wednesday) - said to be an "emotional" affair in which he urged colleagues not to be "sad or bitter".
Telling aides he intends to retire from front-line politics, Sarkozy let them know he was preparing to return to his former life as a lawyer at the Paris firm he still partly owns, after taking a break with his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and their baby daughter.
But the outgoing president could soon be called for questioning - either as a witness or potentially as a suspect - in several corruption cases when he loses presidential immunity a month after leaving office on May 15.

Today announced findings from an economic analysis of the landmark RAFT (Resynchronization / Defibrillation in Ambulatory Heart Failure Trial) trial demonstrating that cardiac resynchronization therapy with defibrillation (CRT-D) is a cost-effective treatment for mildly symptomatic heart failure patients. The findings showed a $33,025 (USD) cost per Quality Adjusted Life Year (QALY) gained using Medtronic CRT-Ds in a mild, New York Heart Association (NYHA)-designated Class II-III heart failure patient population, substantially lower than the benchmark for therapy cost effectiveness of other serious chronic conditions that cost at least $50,000 per QALY gained.(1) QALY is a measure of the quantity and quality of life.Source: MarketWatch (press release)
"Although there are some dubious current statistics the desperate could cite to make an optimistic case, many simply are falling back on the extreme rarity of past "double dips." But, in an unprecedented time, the lack of historical precedent hardly seems to matter. What is far more significant is a raft of new data that point downward . As the high from last year's monetary and fiscal stimulus wears off, there is a good deal of evidence that shows the U.S. economy plunging into an abyss." "Under these circumstances, the Federal government would ideally cut its size in an effort to put more capital into the hands of the private sector, thereby fostering more investment, production, and ultimately more jobs in the economy. Regrettably, the Obama Administration is preparing to do the opposite –the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 are set to expire next year (effectively raising taxes), and the economy will likely suffer as a result. According to projections from the Congressional Budget Office, higher taxes will raise an average of $380 billion per year over the next 10 years; this translates into well over 2% of GDP annually, at a time when nominal growth is decidedly below that mark. Even an elementary school student can do the math - we're getting ready to raise taxes by an amount more than the entire growth of the economy; a renewed contraction should not surprise anyone." But, despite these clear and dramatic signs of mounting malaise, most economists continue...
