Kayaking on the Lagoon
One impressive feature of the Hilton Waikaloa is that they have their own lagoon. A net prevents larger sea life (including a couple of green sea turtles and a lot of colorful fish) from leaving. It has a little beach, some shallow areas for small kids, some deep areas for adult swimmers, rocky outcroppings perfect for snorkeling, and all manner of water sports equipment that you can rent. Sometimes it can be a veritable traffic jam out there, so at times it's better to venture out in a boat rather than snorkeling and getting wacked in the head by an oar. Here's my sister and the two girls in a sea kayak.
(Lake McDonald, Glacier NP, Montana) A lonely boat lies ready at lake McDonald while the kayaks are chained up on the shore, waiting for better weather. Lake McDonald is apparently a beautiful vista when you can see the mountains in the background...
We had to resort to creativity instead, and I got to get very angry at my wireless flash equipment (Cactus tranceivers) while trying to get this shot. The canoes should have been illuminated by a red-gelled umbrella standing top left of camera, but it kept malfunctioning and tipping over to such an extent that I considered letting it sleep with the fishes. However, it might just need new batteries. The ones when the flash did fire were out of focus and even more artisically challenged than this one. Commenting guideline: Only sarcastic, sardonic, ironic, scalding, sadistic, cynical, caustic or wry smartass comments please. If you like a photo, fave it as well. C'meon! Gimme your best constructive censuring! (Seriously. Let's have a few laughs. The usual comments are sweet but boring.)...
