NASCAR's Martin Truex Jr. makes pit stop here to rev up remote-controlled boats
31.12.69
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- On Saturday night, Martin Truex Jr. will be in Fort Worth at the Texas Motor Speedway, continuing to challenge NASCAR Sprints Cup points leader Greg Biffle in the Samsung Mobile 500. He is in a three-way tie for third place, just 12 points off the leader.
But on Monday, he was far away from Texas Motor Speedway - in mind, body and spirit.
While an occasional fisherman cast a line at Brahan Spring Park, Truex was busy on the small dock that overlooks the lake. The Mooresville, N.C., resident and a handful of others were steering high-speed, remote-controlled boats through the Huntsville Model Boating Association's records trial, which continues through Wednesday.

Rush on to replace tsunami-hit fishing boats
31.12.69
KUMAMOTO--Makers of small boats are rushing to replace the approximately 29,000 fishing boats swept away or damaged beyond repair in last year's tsunami.
Yamaha Motor Co.'s local subsidiary near here is one of the domestic boatbuilders working all out to restore the fishing industry in regions severely hit in the Great East Japan Earthquake last year.
Most of the boats that were lost in the March 11 tsunami were small boats six to nine meters long.
On a recent day at Yamaha Amakusa Manufacturing Co. in Kami-Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture, newly manufactured small fishing boats made of fiber-reinforced plastic were removed from molds and lifted by a crane one after another. The finished boats were stacked in frames to await shipment.
