Seacrest Boathouse opening delayed until early summer
31.12.69
The opening of the Seacrest Boathouse in West Seattle, which was originally planned for spring, has been delayed until early summer.
The setback stems from the City of Seattle's Department of Planning and Development's (DPD) need to review the conditional-use permit in the kitchen area once used to repair boats.
Marination, a popular Seattle-based mobile food truck and restaurant, will run the boathouse owned by the City of Seattle Parks and Recreation Department.
"We're still excited about taking over the boathouse, but we ran into a snafu not related us," said Roz Edison, co-owner with Kamala Saxton of Marination. "We have submitted the permits, and are working as best we can with all the related departments."

Antioch poised to open new public boat ramp
31.12.69
After eight years, Antioch is opening a public boat launch ramp that city leaders hope will reel in visitors to the downtown area.
The Delta city will hold a grand opening Saturday for the nearly $3.7 million state-of-the-art ramp at the city's marina. Festivities include personal watercraft races as Diablo Jet Ski Action hosts a competition at the waterfront.
Mayor Jim Davis said he's both excited and relieved that the ramp will finally open.
"It's going to be an asset for the community and the region. Hopefully, people will be able to see what Antioch has to offer," Davis said.
"This is going to be a real shot in the arm for the city of Antioch. (The launch ramp) at Fulton Shipyard just doesn't cut the mustard," said Jim Lambert, a longtime area resident and founder of Diablo Jet Ski Action.

Cleveland County lakes recovering, Lake Draper under restoration
31.12.69
NORMAN — Lake Draper Marina hasn’t been dealing in boats for about two years, though a marina official said that soon could change. Marina manager Anthony Soto said Oklahoma City has plans to put boats on the water by the fall and to fully replenish water levels shortly thereafter.
Marsha Slaughter, utilities director for the city of Oklahoma City, said the city is replenishing lake water at a rate of 83 million gallons per day.
The water’s coming from a pipeline — which was out of service for eight of the last 24 months — connected to Lake Atoka.
“We replaced the pumps and made that system more reliable,” Slaughter said, explaining the lake’s water deficiency. “It turns out if you don’t pump water all the time, the lake level drops.”

Jason's Life Story - Part Two.
During Jason’s teenage years, he could always be found building things. It started with skateboard ramps and bike ramps. But I think his most memorable thing that he built was his double seater bike. Jason decided that it would be really cool if he took the front of one bike and the back of the other bike and welded them together. Everyone said that it wouldn’t work, but he was successful. He was so proud of it….he rode it everywhere. Jason was also known for his many cars. One was a chevette that my dad caught on fire and earned the name Sparky from Jason and the family, he had his volkswagon bus that he completely reconfigured inside, and the one that was most remembered was his turquoise 1956 Ford that he and his dad worked on. Dad finished it and surprised him with it when he returned home from his mission. After high school, Jason went to BYU-Hawaii with Char, his best friend, for a semester before leaving for his mission. He called me a lot while he was in college. In his journal he wrote,”my older sister April and I are very close and it is very hard for both of us to be so far apart.” He talked to me about so many occasions where he and Char would be hanging out or sitting on a rock watching a sunset and it felt weird. They were best friends. He said that the last few weeks were hard at school. He knew that he would be going on a mission and Char would be moving on with her life. He wrote in his journal….”Unless of course the so...
