Neighbors raise concerns about Pheeny Island project in Norton Reservoir

Approximately 50 people turned out at Monday night’s conservation commission hearing to learn the latest on the proposed adventure camp to be located on Pheeny’s Island in Norton Reservoir.
The proponents were back to address approximately 38 concerns of the commission but only got through 16 on the list so the hearing was continued to Monday, April 23.
While the crowd was half the size of the previous meeting in February, those in attendance still voiced their concerns, although not all of them were addressed.
Many wanted information on the Clivus Multrum composting system that would be used for no flush toilets on the island, but were told they would have to wait until the topic comes up at the next meeting for detailed information.

An athletic director that took a stand

It's been a horrible 11 days for Bobby Petrino and Jessica Dorrell, but it was brought on by their own doing and poor decisions. It was not an easy time for University of Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long, who was in charge of dealing with the mess left by those two.
Long on Tuesday night fired Hogs head football coach Bobby Petrino for at least three improper incidents that involved Dorrell, 25, who Petrino had a relationship with and who was employed as the athletic program's student-athlete development coordinator.
Long originally put Petrino on paid leave following his motorcycle wreck on April 1. Long learned that Petrino, married with four children, lied to him about being the only passenger on the motorcycle. Dorrell, 25, is engaged. Or at least was.
