Body Armor?
I am not a cop but I figure cops know about this so.... just clarifying that.
I want to get some body armor for every day use, just to wear around town so if someone goes postal or someone tries to mug me I am covered. First, am I allowed
Body Armor is hot, uncomfortable, and bulky.
I wear it because I have to, but I wouldn't recommend it for 'just wearing around town'...
It shouldn't be illegal unless you are a felon or committing a felony at the time you

BAE unit Armor fined in UN bribery case
WASHINGTON — US justice officials hit security equipment producer Armor Holdings with $16 million in fines Wednesday for bribing UN officials to buy their body armor for UN troops.
Resolving charges based on the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Armor, a subsidiary of British defense giant BAE Systems, agreed to pay the Justice Department $10.3 million in the case, and another $5.7 million to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
"Illicit payments to UN officials are no less reprehensible than bribes to foreign government officials," said Robert Khuzami, director of the SEC's Division of Enforcement.
"The important process of selecting body armor for peacekeepers should not be affected by which company pays the best bribes."
Marine Corps using X-rays to inspect armor
An X-ray can reveal hairline cracks in armor that, in worst-case scenarios, can allow projectiles to penetrate vests and injure or kill Marines, Marine officials said.
Marines typically test plates using what's called a torque test, in which you grab catty-corner edges of the plate and twist as hard as you can. If you hear crunching or grinding, it's the tell-tale sign of a crack.
But the method doesn't catch everything; X-rays are more accurate, said Master Sgt. Mateo Mathis, operations chief at Program Manager Infantry Combat Equipment in Quantico, Va.
The Corps began scanning plates in January and is in a catch-up phase, attempting to scan all plates in its inventory.
UK sends body armor, police uniforms to Libya
&Nbsp;LONDON (AP) — Libya's opposition leader said Thursday that rebels needed more weapons and funding, as China and Russia raised concerns over revelations that France had supplied arms to civilians fighting Moammar Gadhafi's forces.
Mahmoud Jibril, of Libya's Transitional National Council, said foreign deliveries of military hardware would give the rebels a chance to "decide this battle quickly (and) to spill as little blood as possible."
French military spokesman Col. Thierry Burkhard said Wednesday that France had airlifted weapons to Libyan civilians in a mountain region south of Tripoli. The deliveries of guns, rocket-propelled grenades and munitions took place in early June in the western Nafusa mountains, when Gadhafi's troops had encircled civilians.
