Seventh Street hookah lounge closes

Classified Hookah in downtown Rapid City closed Wednesday and is selling off its furnishings and hookah supplies, its owner said.
“We’re closed,” owner Trevor Schmidt said. “We’re shut down.”
The lounge at 524 Seventh St. in the historic Buell Building recently raised the ire of its neighbors, who complained that loud music and the smell of hookah smoke were penetrating the building, irritating them and driving away customers.
“We’re just looking to end the drama and relocate,” Schmidt said. He said he would probably take the business to Sioux Falls.
Schmidt said Friday he is the sole owner, not Rob Abbey, as the men previously said.
Schmidt said he plans to speak Monday with building owner Ron Bazac about breaking the business’ year-long lease, which expires in December.

Bek and Candice Bull’s aunty Jo Renfrey, 53, was recently diagnosed with aggressive, inoperable lung cancer. Candice said the outpouring of support has been incredible, which is why she and her sister decided to hold a fundraiser, called “Raising it for Renfrey”.
“We have received some fantastic donations, including a signed Geelong Jumper from the Geelong Football Club – where Jo’s uncle (Russell “Hooka” Renfrey) used to play,” Candice said.
“Target (where Jo has worked for 30 years) has donated many items for raffles and auctions and we have had many small businesses in Geelong and her local town of Portarlington offer their support with either cash donations or vouchers.
