MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS
POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, OLD OAK BOULEVARD: The April 23 theft of scrap metal from Lifeworks of Southwest General Health Center, a fitness center at 7390 Old Oak, led police to stop a van seen that day at the nearby Old Oak Bible Church, 7575 Old Oak.
On April 23, someone in a maroon van stole used exercise bicycles and other scrap metal from Lifeworks. The next day, some Southwest employees saw a suspicious van and reported it to a security officer. That officer found the van with two men in it at the church lot.
In the van, police found a bag of receipts from scrap yards, a checkbook owned by a Westlake woman, two bolt cutters, three glass pipes and one metal pipe for smoking crack cocaine. On the driver, a Brook Park resident, police found a hypodermic needle. He was charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
