Southeast Alaska: Craig and Klawock
23.02.18
You arrive at the Ketchikan Airport and quickly transfer to the Island Air Express counter. You excitedly secure your seatbelt and headphones inside the tiny nine-passenger aircraft. Within five minutes you’re soaring with the eagles over nameless snow-capped peaks, lush evergreen and a blatant lack of signs of population.
Seemingly uninhabited landscape stretches for what looks like forever. You think, perhaps this is what the rest of America was like at one time – perhaps this really is the final frontier.
You land at the Klawock/Craig airport. Your lodging options include the famous Fireweed Lodge in Klawock, Ruth Ann’s in Craig, or the secluded Northern Spell located on Wadleigh Island across the water. After choosing newbie Northern Spell, you are transported from floatplane to island in an open skiff. You march up the lodge’s steep dock and begin to curse the hour’s low tide, but are shortly interrupted when you catch a glimpse of the most grandeur display of stars you’ve ever seen.

Huron River Canoe Race Set for Saturday
20.05.11
Outdoor race fans will receive a rare treat when professional athletes take to the Huron River in Dexter on Saturday for the first Huron River Canoe Race .
The contest, which is hosted by the Michigan Canoe Racing Association (MCRA) and the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce , will feature two-person (C-2) and one-person (C-1) professional canoe races.
Dexter High School teacher David Teddy organized the event with the hope of drawing attention back to the Huron River, which runs through Dexter.
"There used to be a race in Dexter back in the 1990s, but it slowly went away," Teddy said. "My intention is to try and generate interest in professional canoeing in the community again."

Rugged Aluminum Docks Now Available
23.02.73
With Lake Arrowhead being what Kiwi Docks owner Rob Perrin calls
"one of the roughest lakes in the country," having docks that can
stand up to choppy water can be a big benefit to local boat
owners.
Perrin has just the answer-aluminum docks his company expects to
have available at promotional prices for this summer's boating
season.
"We have aluminum gangplanks in stock now, and we'll have
aluminum docks in our inventory by mid-June," Perrin said.
There are two major advantages to ordering these high-grade
docks, one of them temporary and the other permanent. By ordering
now, Perrin's customers will be able to buy heavy-duty aluminum
docks at the same price as traditional wooden docks in a price
promotion that will last through this season.
