Holiday boaters deal with mixed conditions
29.05.11
After spending 20 minutes Saturday on jet skis on the Allegheny River, brothers T.J. Murrin and Marty Byrne decided to head for shore.
"It's too cold and there's too much debris," Byrne, 40, of Turtle Creek said as he and Murrin loaded their jet skis on to a trailer at the marina in Harmar. "Plus, the river's just fast."
The pair said they typically start their boating season in the middle of May although the weather this spring kept them out of the water until yesterday.
Saying their parents got them into boating at a young age, they indicated they spend as much time as possible on the water during boating season.
Murrin and Byrne said they still plan to spend the Memorial Day weekend on or near the river.
