Is it a good canoe for taking on long weekend trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area? Is it good for fishing? What are your opinions of this canoe if you have used/owned one? Thank you!
I'm not familiar with that particular model, but Mad River canoes have a good reputation for ruggedness and durability.

Writing my final ski column of the year, just like taking my last run, cleaning out my locker, and wishing my skiing buddies a great summer, is always bittersweet.
Writing this column reminds me of the fun my son Josh and I have had since November, sharing our thoughts about our favorite winter pastime. And this winter we even had the fun of skiing and exploring together.
I was reminded on a recent bluebird day as I chased him down the Sluice headwall at Sugarloaf of a line my friend, Warren Miller, used while narrating one of his classic ski movies: "One day your children will ski as well as you do ... the next day they'll ski better." And I had the parental pleasure of showing Josh, for the first time, the nooks, crannies, and still-secret stashes of Mount Snow in Vermont, where I had worked over 40 years ago.

Stephen Dawes is the founding member of the Newcastle Outrigger Canoe Club.
As a team member and a coach, Stephen uses his own passion for paddling to motivate others.
"It's really interesting psychology when you're racing," he says.
"Everybody's really stuffed, you know the finish line is there, and you've spent a lot of months training."
Stephen is the subject of the first 110% Sport video story in the Hunter, an ABC Open project profiling people who are passionate about sport.
"You just don't want to disappoint each other or yourself," Stephen told ABC Open.
"The energy that you feed off just gets you through the line
"You go into the twilight zone, and that's the bit you train for, to battle through that, and it's just beautiful."

Sunday night at 9 p.m. the AMC drama "Mad Men" returns after a 17-month absence, and based on all the hype and publicity it's receiving, you might guess the show is among the highest-rated on television. It's not. Though "Men" has won four Emmy awards for best drama, its audience is modest even by cable standards. The show averaged fewer than 3 million total viewers during its most recent season, or less than half the average audience of "The Walking Dead," AMC's top show. "Men's" appeal lies in something much more nebulous than ratings. It's the sort of show people want to say that they watch. It's smart, sophisticated and visually arresting, and saying you're a fan makes you seem smart andSource: Media Life Magazine
I just realized I havn't made a journal entry in a very long time. And what better opportunity to update than on my 2 year anniversary! So we basically had a super packed fun filled weekend! Friday night we went camping with a group of friends and I will save this story for the very end! I didn't get much sleep because I don't sleep very well while camping out in the woods. But we woke up on Saturday and had a great breakfast with the group and then headed off home for my surprise. I guess now is probably the time when I should say that Saturday was Brendan's day to plan a surprise for me and Sunday was my day. So we go home, and Brendan runs off to run some errands while I shower. He came back with a canoe! So we drove out to the lake near the house and he paddled while I took lots of pictures! We did this for about an hour..he was kinda sad that we didn't make it out to the big part of the lake that has the fountains and parliament building. But not too sad because we went to the football game! When we came home I was soo exhausted from my lack of sleep that I took a nap. Brendan had marinated a steak overnight and BBQ them and they were RIDICULOUSLY good. Best steak sauce ever! That's what it's called. No really that's the name of it. On Saturday we checked into the hotel Saskatchewan (yes that was my big surprise!) I am such a girl! I had chocolate covered strawberries delivered from edible arrangements...
