Two Brevard men OK after canoe swamped, unaware of air-sea search for them

SEBASTIAN INLET — Two Brevard County men whose canoe swamped while camping slept at a friend's home Friday night, while a massive air-sea search took place for them in the Indian River Lagoon of southern Brevard and northern Indian River counties.
The men were paddling from their campsite on an island north of Sebastian inlet to get more supplies from the mainland when their canoe swamped, said U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Wesley Samosuk in Fort Pierce. An onlooker notified authorities at 7:44 p.m. that two men were foundering in the Indian River Lagoon.
The men, who Samosuk would not identify, made it to shore on the west bank of the Indian River. They beached their canoe in the 9200 block of U.S. 1 and walked to a friend's house. There, Samosuk said, they spent the night.

The story captured the nation’s attention when the former prison officer walked into a police station in London in December 2007 claiming he was suffering from amnesia.
Mr Tubb hacked into Darwin’s email account after he pleaded guilty to his offences and discovered emails that had been written by him to his wife and to a lawyer.
In a separate case, Mr Tubb, who lives in North Yorkshire, was authorised to access the emails of a suspected paedophile and his wife, although this investigation did not result in any material
being published or broadcast.
John Ryley, the head of Sky News, said in a statement: “On two occasions, we have authorised a journalist to access the email of individuals suspected of criminal activity.

Canoe conman a victim of hacking
31.12.69
CANOE conman John Darwin was a victim of an email hack that saw information handed on to police.
Sky News authorised a journalist to hack into the emails of back-from-the-dead canoeist after ruling the action was in the public interest.
The broadcaster said the evidence it discovered was handed to police and used in the successful prosecution of Darwin’s wife Anne for insurance and pension fraud.
Darwin, 61, faked his own death in a canoeing accident in 2002 so his wife, 60, could claim hundreds of thousands of pounds from insurance policies and pension schemes.
Former Sky News managing editor Simon Cole agreed that North of England correspondent Gerard Tubb could hack into Darwin’s Yahoo! email account.
