AC World Cup Series goes on the road starting August
23.02.32
If the test sessions in Auckland were the proving ground, the America's Cup World Series is set to become the stage for nothing less than a transformation of sailing.
The new AC45 wing-sailed catamaran is now designated as THE boat of the America's Cup World Series. Alarmingly quick and responsive, challenging and physical, the AC45 will push the best sailors in the world to their limits, and beyond.
Opening of the AC World Series event begins in just two months’ time in Cascais, Portugal. Plymouth, England and San Diego, California are also ports of call in 2011, where the best sailors on the planet will be competing in the opening stages of the 34th Americas Cup.

AFP boat not fully tested in rough seas
02.06.11
Giving evidence at the inquest yesterday, AFP agent Allen Le Lievre said the LeisureCat was the only boat considered for purchase because it had performed well when used by federal police in the ACT. He said the vessel had also been effective for Indonesia's navy, which was given five of the boats as a gift by the Howard government to help fight people-smuggling.
When asked by Mr Hope whether other vessels were considered, Mr Le Lievre replied "No" and said the main purpose of the Christmas Island boat was for patrol duties.
The primary role was for police patrols, while the vessel's secondary role was for search and rescue. It was not designed as a search and rescue vessel, he said.
