HookUp lures theft, fines and fish
23.02.58
FISH might not be the only thing getting caught at The Observer Boyne Tannum HookUp starting on Friday (June10).
An increased police presence on local roads, waterways and at Bray Park, Boyne Island, could result in an unwanted fine or court appearance for those caught red-handed doing the wrong thing.
Over recent years an increase in opportunistic theft has been recorded around the hosting of the three-day fishing event.
Fishing equipment and portable items such as sounders fitted to boats have been some of the items stolen.
This year police are encouraging competitors and local residents to secure their fishing and navigational equipment plus any other valuables when not in use.
